What do I get with a Compact Water Walker?
You receive a composite animal bath that is fitted
with a treadmill. A start / stop variable speed control, emergency
stop and a wall mounted safety control panel housing RCD’s and MCB’s.
You do not have a conventional storage tank with filtration and
transfer pumps.
Where does the water come from?
Water is supplied via your building’s current warm and
cold water supplies. A conventional thermostatic mixer tap is supplied
for your plumber to position above the treadmill.
Why are there no chemicals required?
There are no chemicals needed for this system because
when the treatment is complete the water is directed to waste just the
same as if the patient had finished a bath. The water is not re-used,
therefore there is no requirement to sanitize for either the patient
or the handler.
Is this better for the dogs skin and coat?
Some people believe this to be so, however a well run
and managed sanitized system poses no threat to normal patients skin
and coat.
Where does the water go when I have finished the
session?
Your Compact Water Walker is supplied with a manual
valve on the underside of the unit at the point of empty. Your plumber
will connect this 1.5" ABS pipe to your mains drainage system. The
used water will go directly to waste. When the valve is opened the
used water will empty to your drainage system or if suitably stored,
It can be reused for watering plants or vehicle washing etc.
This sounds as though it may be more expensive to
operate than the sanitised system?
Surprisingly no!. The Compact Water Walker system
whilst it uses clean water each time, metered water is usually only
charged around £1 per cubic metre [1000 litres] of water. It only
takes 294 litres of water to fill. This is a quarter of the capacity
of a full size Water Walker. Most small to medium dogs will only use a
few inches of water. Plus there are no chemicals to purchase.
Do I have to sanitize the Water Walker between
patients?
We recommend that after each patient has left the Compact Water
Walker a mist spray of antibacterial solution is sprayed around the
inside before the next patient enters.
Do I still have to clean under the treadmill belt?
Yes periodically, you will need to clean under the
conveyor belt as very hairy dogs can leave balls of hair in the water,
which can sometimes get caught under the treadmill.
How do I get to the conveyor?
The Compact Water Walker is made with two skins, an
inner and an outer skin. The inner skin clips over the outer skin. By
lifting the inner skin up by the top lip you will separate the two
pieces and the inner skin will lift off and reveal the conveyor and
the bottom of the treadmill. The conveyor is fitted to the bottom and
will not lift out.
What power supply to I require?
A qualified electrician should install this appliance.
You will require a 15 amp dedicated IP rated rotary isolator adjacent
to the position of the safety control box which should be a minimum of
3 metres from the actual Compact treadmill.
Does this system require regular servicing?
A service to a Water Walker is predominantly based
around the Water filtration, heating and transfer pumps. As you will
not have any of these fitted, a standard Animal Rehab service will not be
required. However as with any electrical appliance we recommend a
regular annual inspection by a qualified electrician and a minimum of
monthly RCD checks by a competent person.
What can go wrong then?
Depending on use, you may need to replace the bearings
in the conveyor after approximately five years.
Can I use the Compact Water Walker to bath my dogs?
Yes, the emptying valve can be left open or closed and the
treadmill conveyor set the treadmill to the off position, the unit
doubles as a bath!
